The services provided are very reasonable and cost-effective in our system of health care, and if requested we will provide you with a receipt and, if appropriate for your condition, a claim form that you can submit to your insurance company to seek reimbursement. Dr. Barsten, DC is not an HMO member, so these will not cover our services. We are not able to provide services within the Medicare or Medicaid contract. Note that we do not bill any insurance. This allows Dr. Barsten to keep costs as low as possible and put more time and energy on research, evaluation and clinical skills, not administrative paperwork.
Local/one area up to 30 minutes ($130)
Complex/two areas 30-45 minutes ($195)
Complex/three areas 45-60 minutes ($260)
Follow-up visits are $65 for the first 15 minutes, then pro-rated thereafter.
Healing Modalities (optional) may be extra (ultrasound, laser, taping, traction, myofascial therapy, etc.)
Orthopedic supplies (if needed) are extra. Example: foot orthotics, rubber exercise tubing, low back, neck, wrist & other supports.
X-rays: We do not have an x-ray unit on site. We often don’t suggest x-rays, but if needed, we will write a prescription to have them performed at any variety of locations throughout the bay area, such as Valley Radiologists, etc. These can usually be taken the same day, and if necessary, brought to the office for review. Otherwise, we will get a report from the medical radiologist faxed or mailed to our office.
1, 1½, and 2 hour appointments at a rate of $260 per hour. Follow-up visits up to 30 minutes are $130, 30-45 minutes are $195, and 45-60 minutes are $260. Quick-check visits (less than 15 minutes) are $65. Outside lab fees are performed with no added mark-up (common in many doctors offices).
Phone consultations are the same rate as above. Fifteen minute phone consultations are also available for $65. Brief questions are free, however if the time exceeds 5 minutes, and/or calls are on a daily basis, we will suggest a phone consultation so as to better address concerns, and not to ‘piece together’ important information.
We will bill your insurance company for personal injury cases (such as auto accidents) only. Note: we do not bill for any other type of case, however we can give you a universal claim form with appropriate codes that you may choose to submit to your insurance carrier for reimbursement.
